Optimizing Website Copy and Visual Content

Yogyakarta, Monday, November 20, 2023. The Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Sunan Kalijaga State Islamic University held a Website Management Workshop with the theme "Optimizing Website Copy and Visual Content" delivered by Mr. Sidiq Setyawan, M.I.Kom, Head of the Communication Science Study Program at the Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta. A website is one of the important components in an institution because the website acts as the "face" of an institution that contains a collection of text information, images, sound animations or a combination of all of them, both static and dynamic, and forms a series that is interrelated.

In a university, a website is one aspect that can greatly influence the accreditation assessment at the university, faculty and study program levels. In addition to looking at the quality of students, educational resources, facilities, community service and research, one aspect that is assessed by assessors is the website of a university. In this technological era, people will easily access the internet to search for information, this website will act as the easiest means to access anywhere and anytime.

In managing a website, some features cannot be managed personally by lecturers, so a special team is needed to help manage the website. Along with the development of digital online technology like today, universities are not only required to have a website but also need to pay attention to the quality aspects of the website itself. One effort to improve the online existence of universities in the international world is Webometrics, which is a practical way to encourage each university to pay attention to aspects of digital content that can be seen and utilized by the wider public.

In managing an international website, not all news must be published but news that can be highlighted for the campus can be selected. In managing the website, it is also necessary to align photos of lecturers, educators, and with the articles presented for the neatness of the website. In website content, unlike mass media news that needs to be uploaded every day, campus website news must be uploaded consistently even though not every day and is done sustainably. Academic community awareness is needed in managing the website for the progress of the campus.
