The Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities held an event entitled Mental Health Screening Workshop in the Framework of Strengthening the Role of Educational and Psychometric Labs for Improving Mental Health in Higher Education. The event, which was held on Monday, December 2, 2024 at 08.00, took place in the Interactive Center room, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, and was attended by 40 Psychology students from the State Islamic University (UIN) Sunan Kalijaga.

This workshop aims to strengthen the role of laboratories in the fields of education and psychometrics as an effort to improve the quality of mental health of students in higher education. With a screening-based approach, participants gain new insights regarding early detection and effective mental health intervention strategies.This event presented a competent resource person, Latifatul Laili, M.Psi., Psychologist, who is a lecturer and psychology practitioner from the Islamic University of Indonesia (UII). In her session, Latifatul Laili explained the importance of implementing mental health screening as part of student psychosocial support, especially in dealing with academic pressure and life challenges in higher education.

As a moderator, Dika Tristiani, a Psychology student at UIN Sunan Kalijaga and Head of the Education and Psychometrics Lab, successfully guided the discussion dynamically. Participants were also actively involved in the question and answer session that enriched their understanding of current issues in mental health.Through this event, it is hoped that the education and psychometrics laboratory can play an increasingly strategic role in building a mentally healthier campus community, both through curriculum development, training, and scientific-based psychological services. The Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities is committed to continuing to develop research-based and practice-based programs that support improving the quality of education as well as the mental well-being of the academic community.
