On May 5, 2024, the Psychology Study Program held a Psychology Festival activity which took place at Panti Hafara. Psychology Study Program students represented by a number of students from the 2021 intake received a warm welcome from the management of the orphanage.

This activity was attended and began with remarks by Mrs. Candra Indraswari, M.Psi., Psychologist. as the chief coordinator of the 2024 Psychology Festival, Mrs. Lisnawati, M.Psi., Psychologist as the Head of the Psychology Study Program, and Mr. Budiman as a representative of the management of Panti Hafara or which also has another name, Wisata Rumah Jiwa.

The orphanage located in Bantul Regency became the place for the Psychology Festival to share happiness through the Art Therapy method. As one of the art-based therapy methods, this activity was carried out with full assistance from a psychologist from the Temanbaik psychology bureau, namely Mrs. Yustisia Anugrah Septiani, M.Psi., Psychologist. Participants were divided into several small groups accompanied by two students as facilitators in each group. In her mentoring, Mrs. Yusti invited participants and facilitators to be able to express the emotional conditions they were feeling through painting activities.

With high enthusiasm and creativity, participants followed the directions well. There were times when some of them were not confident when asked to paint with their non-dominant hand. However, with the support of Mrs. Yusti and the Temanbaikk team and the facilitators, the participants finally dared to try and show their abilities. Giving meaning to this activity, Mrs. Yusti said that we can actually get through difficult things in life. We just need to try and dare to overcome them.

In addition, one of the participants specifically expressed his gratitude for the organization of this activity. He felt happy and gained insight into maintaining mental condition and how to achieve happiness. He also prayed that his friends in Psychology at UIN Sunan Kalijaga could run the learning process smoothly and could spread good things to the community. (Ardhan/Raydinda)
