"Empower Your Mind: Harness Strengths for a Brighter Future," WMHD Clinical Laboratory Together with HMPS Holds Ceremony and Psychofancy 2024

Yogyakarta, October 10, 2024. In order to raise awareness of the importance of mental health, the Clinical Laboratory of the Psychology Study Program, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, UIN Sunan Kalijaga together with the Student Association of the Psychology Study Program, UIN Sunan Kalijaga held a WMHD (World Mental Health Day) event which is commemorated every October 10. The celebration of World Mental Health Day, which is routinely held every year, is an important momentum for students to raise awareness of mental health and strengthen support for those who face mental health problems. The theme of this year's event, "Empower Your Mind: Harness Strengths for a Brighter Future," highlights the importance of empowering individuals in recognizing and optimizing mental strength and self-potential. With this ability, it is hoped that each individual will be able to face life's challenges more effectively. This theme also emphasizes that by maximizing mental strength and utilizing self-potential optimally, a person is not only able to cope with stress, but also achieve better mental health and more balanced psychological well-being. This activity encourages students to not only maintain their own mental health, but also to become agents of change in creating a more supportive environment around them.

The event was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Mrs. Dr. Erika Setyanti Kusumaputri, S.Psi., M.Si; Head of the Psychology Study Program, Head of the Psychology Laboratory, Mr. Dr. Zidni Immawan Muslimin, S.Psi., M.Si and lecturers from the psychology study program. The concept of WMHD this time is to hold a campaign on mental health to various faculties. This campaign aims to increase student awareness of the importance of maintaining mental health. In addition to providing educational information, the committee also distributed small souvenirs wrapped with words of encouragement. In this way, it is hoped that the recipients will not only get positive energy, but also be motivated to care more about their mental well-being and the people around them. Along with the celebration of World Mental Health Day, laboratories in the Psychology Study Program, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, UIN Sunan Kalijaga, such as the Clinical, Developmental, Social, Psychometric, and PIO (Industrial and Organizational Psychology) Laboratories also held a lab tour for new students facilitated by the Clinical Laboratory and HMPS committees. By holding a lab tour, it is expected that new students will have a deeper picture of the function and contribution of each laboratory in supporting learning and research. In addition to increasing insight into various fields of psychology, this activity is also expected to help new students in considering the choice of laboratory that they want to pursue when entering semester 4, where choosing a lab will be one of the important steps in determining the focus of their studies and careers in the future.
